JIM VANLANDINGHAM
In loving memory of a great man, Jim Vanlandingham, who passed away July 29th in Kingsport, Tennesse. He was loved and revered by thousands of students during his 44 year career as a high school band director. He was an inspiration to many, a great teacher and musician. He was president of the band division of TMEA, had 23 consecutive sweepstakes at Gregory Portland H.S., played principal Fr. Horn with the Victoria Syphony and Corpus Christi Wind Symphony. His accomplishments are far too numerous to list here.
He is survived by his wife, Grieg, his daughters, Laura Vanlandingham and Beth Mayberry, sister, Nanette Zuercher, brother, Jerry Vanlandingham, two grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Mayberry and stepdaughter, Sonia Blasbichler Kutz.
He will be missed. Rest in peace, Mr. Van.
