Junior High Report – David Noyola
a. Mr. Noyola reminded the
membership to keep checking the website for updates.
b. The tenor sax scales were wrong – if you need a copy
of the correct scales email Robert Mendoza
III.
Jazz Report – Juan Benavides
a. Mr. Benavides told the membership the Jazz music for
Jazz auditions will be Year C. There
should not be any changes. If you need
the music, you can order it from Mattei music.
b. Recording for State Jazz will be held
c. A proposal for Region Middle School Jazz Band was
passed at the TMEA meeting. There will
be one band consisting of 20 students: 2 Alto saxes, 2 Tenor saxes, 1 Bari sax, 5 Trumpets, 5 Trombones, 1 Guitar, 1 Bass Guitar,
1 Piano, 1 Drum set, 1 Aux. Percussion.
The auditions will be held

Financial Report – JJ Meave
a. Mr. Meave was unable to
attend the meeting. Mr. Eddie Benitez
read the financial report in Mr. Meave’s
absence.
b. The Region’s ending balance was $2,874.17.
c. Mr. Benitez announced that Mr. Meave
was rescinding his position as treasurer.

State Board Report – Eddie Benitez
a. Mr. Benitez read from the minutes of the State Board
meeting held at the TMEA convention.
b. Items can be found online on page 17 of the March
ATSSB Newsletter. Check the ATSSB Website for changes.

a. HS
Percussion Audition
i.
Check ATSSB
Website for the changes. John Michael
Garza will be presenting a clinic at the TBA Convention in July.
ii.
The
instructional video is still in the process of being made.
b. Scholarship
i.
A proposal
for the memberships’ approval was submitted by JJ Meave. A motion was made by Veronica Bazaldua to
adopt the scholarship. The members were
concerned with money issues and wanted to make a decision for the following
years pending review of the financial report.
Robert Garza suggested the members present the scholarships at the Fall meeting and that the deadlines stay the same. Aaron Sandoval made a motion to award two one
year scholarships contingent on the fund balance. Veronica Bazaldua second. A final correction was made to the proposal
to have a committee look over the scholarship instead of a single
representative. The motion passed.
