MS/HS Tryouts- where? and when?
       Willspoint, Greenhill, Van Alstyne, Little Elm?

*Parliamentarian for today's meeting-Rick Webb from Scurry-Rosser
Need to set the date first.

Nominations for HS date:  Nov. 11, Nov. 16, Nov. 18, Nov. 30?
(problems with getting results into Area in time is the reason for trying to
make it an earlier date)

HS Tryouts will be Nov. 30, 2000 at Willspoint
voted and passed.

Need a date for MS?  Nov. 11, Dec. 1, Nov. 18?

MS Tryouts will be Dec. 1, 2000 at Van Alstyne
voted and passed.

Calendar for next year:
*Marching- Oct. 18, 2000
Area- Oct.. 28, 2000
State Marching- Nov. 6, 2000
ATSSB Area tryouts- Jan. 6, 2000

Need to set a date for the Clinic/Concert on a 5 year plan to be able to get
a big name clinician.  Search Committee- Dates? Expense? Myerson?
1st or 2nd weekend after Area?

Motion to have the Clinic and Concert on the first weekend after Area.

Need a Search Committee to find Clinicians, commissions, etc.
Bring in bigger names.  Maybe one every 3-4 years, depending on money.

suggestion- to pick 5 directors in our own region- one do the march, one
this, one that, etc.

*Need a Site Committee to investigate a better site.  Rob Toup from
Canton- volunteer.

Scholarship Committee is already set up.

Motion to have John Mize and Rob Toup appoint their own committee members.

Late Solo/Ens Date: March 17
(Frisco will host Solo/Ens and the UIL Band Contest)
 

Need to vote to send Bonnie our recommendations for  tentative dates for
Concert and Sight Reading.
Possible Dates:  Feb. 28, March 1,2 first choices
March 7,8,9 as second choices
TAAS Testing dates will be announced January 31. Then take the date that
does not conflict.

ATSSB JAZZ Clinic/Concert- April 20-21, 2001
*( 2nd choice for Jazz would be April 6&7  - One Act play is April 20-21)
Celina Solo/Ens- April 28, 2001
Sounds of Spring- March 30-31, 2001

State Wind Ensemble- May 5
-In 2001 will become a music festival

Lunch- Let students get Pizza first, In case we need to order extra.  Need
help serving the pizza.  Please help monitor cafeterias.

Afternoon Meeting 1:20 p.m.

Motion to elect Robin Weatherman as Region Clerk.
-2nd-passed.

Motion to elect Rick Webb as Region Parliamentarian.
-2nd-passed.

Motion to elect Brandon Brewer for OPS Chairman.
-2nd-passed.

Need to elect a MS Coordinator.
Duties-hiring Clinician, est. hosts, dates for auditions, etc.
Adam Cartwright, Clark Eacker, Ken McEllen?

Clark Eacker elected for MS Coordinator.

All Region Refinements:
Signing paper as you leave the audition room.
Students not be asked to play cuts they are not supposed to play.
Need: a student's rights Page Guideline.

Trombones- HS Only 12 maximum. (What we have suggested is 8 tenor, 4 bass.
However, this is not working)

Motion to recommend the trombone instrumentation be changed to 10 tenor, 2
bass per band with the ultimate decision to be left up to the judging panel.

discussion: (7 tenor, 3 bass)  (10 tenor, 2 bass)?

Motion ammended to recommend 4 bass trombones ( 2 in each band) or in other words- 10
tenor trombones and 2 bass trombones in each band.

Motion- No students in the computer tabulation room.

With the new computer program, it will be easier and it will be posted.

We will need volunteers to help out in the tabulation room.
David and John will find either band parents, aid, or spouse to help.

Cutting Region Sizes Down?

Sounds of Spring:
Judges: Lloyd Cook, Pat Autry, Jimmy Wiggins, Sherry Poteet, Ben Davis,
Daren Jolly.
Entries- Register on line. The Web site: www.musicresults.com
Info Pamphlet passed out.
Encouraged to do at least one UIL number.  Younger groups- not required to
do UIL.  Play what fits your group/ No pop music.
Mail check with judges comment sheets.
All entries should be post marked by March 3, 2000.
$200 entry fee.
If you need a form to give to your school in order to get the check, get it
from our Region Page.

Motion to give $25.00 to all four hosts for Friday and Sat.

ACT Test Friday night...We do have a clause for sports (School related) can
be excused and Sat- no excuse.

Motion- No excuses or exceptions for missing Sat. rehearsal.

MS Audition Structure:
MS Coordinator:
1.Woodwinds   2.Brass    3.Percussion   4.Audition Process

Proposal for setting standard committees of 3 members for each woodwind,
brass, percussion and 5 members for the audition process. Each committee
would elect a chairperson amongst themselves.  The general Chair posted will
be the communicator on the web with the coordinator.
