ATSSB Outstanding Contributor Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor outstanding members of ATSSB and/or those outside the organization who have contributed to the success and growth of small school bands in Texas.

Eligible nominees should represent high moral character and ethical standards, display integrity and honesty, and demonstrate leadership abilities.

Any Active Member of ATSSB may nominate one or more qualified candidates for the ATSSB Outstanding Contributor Award. Qualifying criteria is listed below:

  1. The candidate’s name must be submitted prior to March 1 to be considered for the ATSSB Outstanding Contributor Award the following July.
  2. The candidate’s name and final nomination form must be completed and additional materials submitted prior to April 1 to be considered for this award the following July.
  3. The nomination must be supported by information about the candidates(s).
  4. The ATSSB Outstanding Contributor Award Committee is chaired by the Immediate Past-President and at least four (4) ATSSB members appointed by the ATSSB President.
  5. Completed submissions must be received by the Chair of the ATSSB Outstanding Contributor Award Committee (ATSSB Immediate Past-President) via fax or email by April 1.
  6. The Committee Chair will do a preliminary review and send every nomination to members of the Committee.
  7. The Committee will confer after they have received all nomination materials to select the final award recipient(s) for July (if any).
  8. Award recipients must receive 100% of the votes cast to receive recognition in July.
  9. Candidates not selected for the award during their year of submission will remain in the pool of candidates for the next five consecutive years, after which a new nomination must be submitted.
  10. The Committee may select as many or as few (or no) recipients as deemed worthy of the honor that year.
  11. The Committee is not obligated to name any recipients in a year they deem the submitted candidates do not meet the criteria listed.
  12. Awards may be made posthumously.
